I love gingerbread and my daughters do too. For the last few years we have made a gingerbread house. Last year I let them decorate it themselves. They chose to do this by writing their names all over it. This year I wanted to practice some piping and make an all white gingerbread house using only royal icing.
I actually had a gingerbread house kit from IKEA so saved some time by just building that instead of baking my own gingerbread. Next year I’ll try and be more organised and bake my own. Going on holidays before Christmas didn’t help this year but I’m sure we all have ambitions of being more organised “next year”.
I really enjoyed the piping. I found some great tips online from another blog and used their idea to create some snow decorations for my gingerbread house. They suggested piping out designs on baking paper and then letting them dry for 24 hours before sticking them on your gingerbread house with a couple of dots of royal icing. We added a naked snowman to the front yard or maybe it’s a snow covered tree and dusted the house with some icing sugar.
Merry Christmas Eve to you and your household!
