Toddler Crochet Poncho and Matching Hat

Toddler Crochet Poncho and Matching Hat

My youngest daughter was happy to model this cute variegated yarn poncho for some pictures but it’s not for her. I’m gathering together a little birthday / care package for a dear little friend of ours Bella who has recently been diagnosed with Leukemia.

Giaggolo Moda Vera Yarn

Using a free online pattern from the Lion Brand website again I crocheted up the ‘Coming Home’ poncho which took two balls of Moda Vera – Giaggiolo yarn to make the child 4 size. She is turning 3 but I found that in the smaller size the head opening was too small.

I thought a poncho would be good for hospital if she was cold as it just slips easily on and off over her head when she is having treatment.

Scallop crochet edge on poncho

I love the shell/scallop edge to the poncho but actually didn’t follow the pattern exactly and did two rows of shells instead of four as I felt they looked large enough with two rows.

I have also made a matching hat to keep her head warm when she loses her hair using the same pattern I used previously which you can see here.

It goes really well with the poncho as it is the same type of stitch.

Please send your prayers and positive vibes to our sweet little friend Bella for a speedy recovery.
