Back to School Sandwich Wrap

As of Tuesday next week I will have two of my daughters at school. Can’t quite believe it yet! It’s been a lovely long Christmas break with lots going on for us and now I’m really looking forward to starting this next chapter in our lives. Uniforms are ready and new shoes have been bought so all that was left to do was sort out new lunch bags. I decided to make a back to school sandwich wrap for each of them.

Using one of the easy patterns from this book I made some sandwich wraps. I have used the washable plastic ones in the past but the problem with them is that they only fit standard sized square bread.

With the new ones I’ve made you can fit many different sized sandwiches and probably even rolls in them too. On the inside I used some red and white spotted laminated cotton from my stash which I purchased from IKEA. You can wipe this clean so use it on the side of your sandwich wrap that covers the bread.

To co-ordinate with the red and white spots I used a striped cotton fabric on the outside.

You simply fold it up over your sandwich and tie it together by wrapping the elastic loop (which is attached into one edge) around a button which is sewn in place.

Simple, versatile and perfect for school lunches or even picnics.

oooh great size and I love that polka dot fabric (I’m slightly obsessed with red polka dots!), I wonder if IKEA still sells it?
I haven’t seen this book before, are there many other good projects in it?
