Thank you to whomever nominated me! I’m so excited to share with you all that I made the top 100 for the Kidspot Voices of 2015 under the category Home and Wellbeing which contains 30 finalists.
There was a full day of networking, learning and celebrating in Melbourne last weekend and I managed to use my frequent flyers to head down there and join in the fun.
The event was held at the beautiful Leonda by the Yarra. The flower displays were wonderful and the food fantastic, it would be a great wedding venue (I might just have to mention that to my brother in case the rollerskating rink doesn’t work out for him!).
Garnier held a Welcome breakfast that was superb.
My favourite had to be these yummy mini jaffles. I’m thinking I need a mini waffle iron now as they are so cute!
After breakfast there was a Masterclass Session with some fantastic speakers. Always something to learn and if you would like some great notes then the super lovely and bubbly Michelle from An Organised Life kept the best notes. If she isn’t already the P&C secretary then she should be as I can tell you some fast talking goes on there and she wouldn’t miss a word. Thanks Michelle!
I found the “How Influence Works” section the most interesting with the great speakers Anna Hickey from Etsy, Phoebe Montague from Lady Melbourne, Craig Page from Ogilvy PR.
“How Community Works” with Zoey and Katie from Operation move were very inspiring and had me thinking about new ways to build an online community.
It’s always great to hear from some other bloggers and what they are great at so the Soapbox session was a fantastic way to finish off the Masterclass before we changed rooms again for champagne and finalist announcements.
I didn’t really know anyone there and as hard and exhausting as it can be sometimes it was lovely to meet new people and find some bloggers to gel with. I ended up meeting quite a few people and here are just a few of the inspiring bloggers I met (but by no means all of them!). Left to right is Adam of Cook and Kid a blog about a chef who is passing on his cooking skills to his daughter. How sweet is that? Next is Sarah who blogs over at Commas and Ampersands She is a Brisbane book blogger with great comparisons of books to movies and is an awesome Game of Thrones fan. Then there was the funny Kelly from My Little Adventures who I wish I’d met earlier in the day as she was just a totally cool chick with lots in common.
You may notice my new little Voices of 2015 Finalist widget on the sidebar along with my new introduction video which we created a little while ago. I don’t always announce everything however there is always work going on behind the scenes for my blog. I look forward to seeing where this new achievement will take me. Thank you so much for clicking, reading, sharing and commenting on my blog over the last 5 years. I really enjoy and love creating in this space so thank you for supporting me in my blogging journey.
