“The Force” is nearly upon us with the new Star Wars Movie coming out in December and I don’t know about you but we’re excited. Little Z boy has had a bit of a theme makeover to his bedroom with a new blanket I made him with some great polar fleece fabric gifted to me from Spotlight.
They noticed we were mad Star Wars fans so I received a lovely big bundle of fabric to play around with and it’s been lots of fun getting back into doing more sewing again.
Seeing as our son is 4 already we’ve updated his room to make it more “little boy” than infant. He didn’t want his car ramps and garages anymore and his trains have been packed away for a bit. He now has a cool Star Wars room which I will continue to decorate over the coming months.
We bought him 2 cool Star Wars posters for his birthday so I finally got my act into gear and framed them so we could put them up on the wall. He loves having the X-Wing Starfighters above his bed. Maybe he will now dream in hyperdrive about flying around his star fighter with four laser cannons and two proton torpedo launchers!
It’s already getting warm here in Australia even though it’s only Spring so the quilt has come off and he now has this blanket which was super simple to make. When you have such fun graphic fabric to work with not much needs to be done. I purchased some plain black polar fleece for the backing and just sewed around the two pieces right sides together just leaving a little gap to turn it back right sides out. Then all that was left to do was sew up the gap. So easy!
The blanket has all his favourite Star Wars characters like Yoda, C-3PO, R2-D2 and Darth Vader. It also looks great next to the metallic blue feature wall hubby painted for him and goes well with his red metal king single bed. If you’d like some polar fleece too the design is called “Jedi vs Sith” (article number 80297569) and it’s AU $19.99 per metre.
