Spotlight National Craft Month

April is National Craft Month at Spotlight and I had the exciting opportunity to go on live TV today on the Studio 10 show to talk about it. I had to wake up at 5:00am to get into the city so being introduced as “the hugely popular queen of craft” by the beautiful Sarah Harris left me slightly stunned!

I demonstrated some arm knitting which had everyone fascinated and then went on to talk about National Craft Month, crafting with kids and answered a few crafty questions from the hosts.

We decided to decorate some papier maché deer heads on the show as I needed to have a craft that the hosts could do with me in a short time frame. At a recent Spotlight event a few crafters had decorated some heads for display on the wall so we grabbed a few of them to place on the front of the desk and then I partially decorated a few more so that the hosts could get their craft on together to finish them off.

It was such a fun experience and very surreal to be crafting next to Ita Buttrose and Denise Drysdale while chatting with Sarah, Jessica Rowe and then Joe Hildebrand wrapped some chunky yarn around his neck for a bit of a walk by.

It was all go, go, go from when I arrived at Channel 10 and then it was over in a flash. The hosts were all lovely as I sat next to them in the makeup room getting my hair and makeup done. Such a great day, I felt very lucky to be able to go on TV and talk about what I love to do.

Head into Spotlight during April for some fun in-store demonstrations like the Craft Party which is being held at all Spotlight stores on Saturday April 2016 from 11-3. To find out more about what’s happening at your local store you can check out their website here.

Have you been to any Spotlight events yet? The Fabric Feista was on last weekend did you get to go?
