For a bit of a change, I decided to crochet a top for myself. My favourite new yarn store Skein Sisters stocks Wool and the Gang yarn so armed with some Christmas gift cards I visited their store to purchase six balls of Shiny Happy Cotton in the pretty colour called Magic Mint.
The yarn is 10ply so with thicker yarn and being crochet it worked up really quickly. The pattern is called Pearl Shell Top and is designed by Ana D who you can find over on Ravelry. She has some other fantastic crochet patterns available too if you’re looking for some modern designs.
The top is worked in two pieces and then they are joined together which was pretty straightforward. I prefer to crochet the edges together where possible instead of seaming with a needle and yarn. There is also an extra round of crochet around the sleeve edge to give it a neat finish.
The yarn was lovely to work with and I’d love to use it again, perhaps for another Pearl Shell Top. It’s 100% Pima Cotton which is plied and the yarn has such a lovely lustre about it and drapes beautifully.
Yes, you may have noticed I’m standing in a pool, our swimming pool. I love this waterfall wall and brickwork at the deep end and when I was looking for a new photography background to change things up a bit I thought it would be fun to use it. Lucky there was a step for me to stand on, the water wasn’t too cold and my skirt only got a little wet.
