Crochet Coasters

Crochet Coasters

This is the best way to start the day. Don’t get me wrong I love tea too but I just don’t understand people who don’t like coffee! My parents gave my husband and I a coffee machine as a house warming present when we first moved out together and I enjoy making coffee from it every morning.

Stitch Nation Full of Sheep yarn used for crochet coasters

I found this Stitch Nation – Full of Sheep yarn on sale for $2 at Spotlight recently and loved the colour, among other things it matches my kitchen. I decided to use it to make the floral crochet coasters from the book – Crocheted Gifts by Kim Werker.  This is the second crochet project I have completed from this book, the first being my star crochet granny square blanket.

crocheted six point medallion

I made six of the coasters which are a six pointed medallion. The book also has a pattern for a four pointed flower coaster. Many crochet stars or flowers could work as pretty coasters as long as they have a relatively flat centre to them. I was considering felting some but I’ve decided I like them like this and find them sturdy enough.

Coffee love crochet coaster

No more coffee rings on my dining table now. I think I’ll have to make some more as they would make a lovely housewarming gift for someone.

So which do you prefer coffee or tea?
