With a very cuddly newborn baby it has been challenging to find time to craft lately. By the end of the day I’m exhausted and the last thing I feel like doing is sitting up at the sewing machine. Crochet is so portable and I love that I can take it to bed and watch some TV while I craft. My latest project was a crocheted owl ear flap baby hat.
Whilst looking for free crochet patterns I found a cute free owl hat pattern online but actually decided on the above pattern which was all of $4.50 from CrazySocks Crochet.
I liked that the crochet pattern had little ear flaps to keep bubsy extra warm and the way it is made gives a cute square ear effect to the top of the hat rather than the majority of owl hat patterns which are rounded.
I hooked up this cute crochet hat pattern using some Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino yarn. This yarn is really so soft and cuddly with so many wonderful colours available. I’ve gathered a bit of a stash from a few shops who had the Debbie Bliss yarn on sale and also from ebay.
If you’ve followed my blog for a while you might remember my love of owls with a previous post about an owl birthday cake.
He looks super cute when I’m carrying him in the baby sling and his little head pops out the top wearing his crochet owl hat. Many people have stopped to comment about baby Z’s hat when he wears it.
Cute enough for you?
