Our miniature apricot labradoodle Tsubi just had her 8th birthday. Here she is as a cheeky puppy sprung digging in the garden!
Yes eight years ago our adorable Labradoodle joined our family as our first girl. She is such a great dog who is fantastic with kids and gives us the best unconditional love every single day. She is very smart and has the lovely Poodle coat which doesn’t shed or smell doggy. Great for allergy sufferers like myself.
Every year we make a cake for Tsubi and have a little celebration. The kids love it and we get into the spirit of it making a fuss of her.
The girls helped me make this peanut butter carrot doggy birthday cake which we shaped into a dog bone and iced with cream cheese frosting. She luuuurrves cheese! Here is a link to the recipe I used.
My youngest daughter (who is the biggest animal lover) helped me bath her and besides the cake she had a special dinner and a nice long walk.
We picked up a box of doggy party hats, serviettes, plates and cups from the sale bin at Spotlight to use for our human party cake and treats and made one of the hats a bit smaller to fit nicely on Tsubi’s head. You know what they say about working with kids and animals. It was hard to get a good photo of her on her own in her hat so I had to tempt her with a bit of cream cheese frosting from her cake.
Here is a link to a fact sheet all about Labradoodles in case you’re interested in finding out more about this fantastic breed.
So do you think I’m crazy having a little party for our dog?
Oh well we had fun and I think the birthday girl did too!
