I’ve been busy doing a bit of quilting. Yes it’s been a while between quilts but I decided there was no better time than now to get this Very Hungry Caterpillar Quilt finished for my little boy who just turned 1.
Ohh how exciting another project off my to do list that I can put a big cross through!
I love this pattern which I found at In Stitches of Williamstown. It’s called “Very Hungry Cater-quilt” and it’s an original design by Laura Lobb. The Eric Carle fabric range is so gorgeous that it doesn’t really need to fancy or busy a pattern.
I did change the fabric they suggested for the border instead using the co-ordinating green fabric from the Eric Carle by Andover Fabrics range (in the pattern kit they supplied me with a spotty yellow fabric). It is finished off around the edge with the same matching green fabric for the quilt binding.
I also found a bit of the caterpillar fabric at Spotlight during a recent 20% sale weekend and purchased 1.5 metres to use as my quilt backing fabric.
Eric Carle and The Very Hungry Caterpillar is one of our favourite kids books and if you like it as well you may want to keep an eye out on the blog for a little 1st birthday party coming very soon.
