I wanted to challenge myself by knitting something with a bit of lace pattern but a quick knit so I would have time to complete it. With three daughters there is usually a bit of a tussle in the knitting/craft queue and this little Miss was begging for this kids knitted lace shrug to be hers!
I already had some cashmere merino silk aran Sublime yarn in my stash and only needed two balls to knit the smallest size shrug to fit my 3 (nearly 4) year old. Pink is her favourite colour so I knew that this knitting was definitely going to be for her.
The pattern can be found in this Sublime Knitting pattern book #633. Little mimi simple lace shrug is the name of the pattern and there are sizes for kids and you could even make a matching one for yourself with the adult size pattern as well.
I love the Sublime pattern books, there are so many beautiful patterns in them. Remember this cute baby cardigan my mum made for baby Z.
It knits up as a simple rectangle with ribbing at each end. The ends are joined for a small section to make little sleeves to put your arms through.
The back is so cute as it sits over her shoulders. A perfect spring knit as it adds a bit of warmth to a pretty summery dress or outfit.
It would be really cute over a party dress too.
It’s a hit with little Miss who loved posing for some pictures in it. I might just have to make one for myself now I know it’s a great pattern and I already have the Sublime yarn in my stash in a lovely plum colour.
Sweet don’t you think?
