After the ripple-along I participated in I still have a soft spot for a good ripple. When I found this ripple bag crochet pattern on Ravelry I marked it to make sure I made it later.
Wanting to use up some yarn from my stash I chose some teal and red Moda Vera Beetle yarn which was originally purchased from Spotlight. The pattern used one ball of red and just over one ball of the teal, it need a bit extra for all the edging.
The pattern is called ripple bag and is available for free from the Red Heart website – link here. It was an easy, quick and fun bag to make. I ended up making the strap shorter by inserting more into the bag opening when I sewed the handle on. After it was made I knew it would make a great present for a little girl so didn’t want the straps too long.
It needed quite a bit of steam blocking to get it nice and flat as the single crochet stitches actually make real ridges (or ripples) making it look like corrugated iron until it was flattened. I might make this one again for the craft stall but make it a bit smaller.
Another homemade gift for a sweet little friend, hope she likes it.
P.S. I’ve added this post to the And Sew We Craft Linky Party
