Continuing on with finishing some UFO’s I finally finished off another quilt top I’ve had sitting around for ages. This jelly roll quilt was made out of Michael Miller fairy frost fabric which is one of my favourite blender fabrics. Jelly rolls are fabrics that have been cut into strips and then rolled up to sell as a pack.
From memory (we are talking a couple of years ago now) I just sewed the strips together and then started chopping them up and moving them around into different designs until I found a pattern I liked.
I may or may not have a whole collection of colours of fairy frost fabric but I do put them to good use and have used them often like on my Christmas tree skirt, tooth fairy pillow and my daughter’s mermaid quilt which I don’t think I’ve ever shared with you on the blog.
I kept the quilting simple and stitched in the ditch of the joins and then sandwiched the quilt top between some cotton wadding and some grey backing fabric from my stash. As burgundy was the main colour used I matched some burgundy binding for around the edge.
A simple but modern and graphic quilt that I will add to my ever growing pile for the school craft stall. I think I only have one more quilt top hiding somewhere that I should finish off now.
