I made this little knitted doll cardigan before Christmas using a Tikki Knits pattern called dolly olearia. It sat in my craft room until the other day waiting for buttons. Our little family was unwell in the holidays so a few things didn’t get finished as planned.
I did send hubby to Spotlight to pick out some buttons for me and he did really well with the colour but the size was too big so I had to wait until I could make a trip there myself. Everyone must be buying buttons because the selection wasn’t very vast and I had to go with a lighter colour to get the right size anyway. Ten points to him for trying for me!
It’s a really sweet pattern and I’d like to make one for the girls now that I know how it’s made. Like I said before when making the dolly rainbow dress it really is a great way to get to know the patterns before investing the time to make the larger kids sizes.
Making dolls clothes is also great for using up your stash as the patterns usually only take one ball. This was made in some Morris and Sons Empire in 8ply that I had left over from a crochet star blanket I made back in 2010.
Now that we are all well again and Christmas is over I’m trying to get some time to craft and finish off a few things but I always forget how much harder it is when all the kids are at home on school holidays. That’s ok as I do know it will fly by and our smallest girls will be starting Kindy this year which hopefully means I’ll be able to get more done at home??!!
Do you get much crafting time during school holidays?
