After my last post about missing the boat finishing my Milo for “Milo May 2014” the lovely Georgie of Tikki Knits messaged me to let me know we had a bit more time to finish knitting up our Milo vests. I stayed up late for a few nights and managed to finish it on the 4th of July!
As I mentioned in the last Milo post there are lots of different options for the cable section down the front or some people even like to knit without this part if the yarn is quite colourful. My favourite design was the “XOXO” the moment I saw it. There was no question for me as to which cable design I’d knit.
This is the first Milo I’ve ever knitted and it is a great pattern for beginners. I’ve made another vest for my son before (details here) and vests really are great for active toddlers to keep their chests warm when they don’t want to wear a jumper.
I really love this yarn by Little Plum Yarn which is a DK twist merino in a colour called Moody. Really lovely to knit with and when he wears his Milo outside it can actually look more blue than purple. It’s a gorgeous vibrant colour and it makes me happy that I have a few more skeins of Little Plum Yarn in my yarn stash. If you’re interested in getting some yarn you can find them here on Facebook.
It’s holding up well already after my son rolled in the dry mud that was all over the trampoline during this photo shoot! Boys will be boys.
Speaking of yarn if you’re interested in discovering some new indie yarn businesses then this post from Georgie about all the lovely Milo May 2014 sponsors has some of the best links to some fabulous people. Be warned you will probably be lusting after some new yarn for your stash afterwards so look away if you’re on a yarn diet.
Bye for now.
