It’s was a bit quiet here lately as we’ve been busy preparing for our Batman party which was last weekend. To make up for it there will be a week full of batman, bat and superhero posts on the blog this week.
A couple of months ago my husband bought me a fantastic present a Silhouette Cameo electronic cutting machine. It has been fabulous for planning this party and I’ve made things I would not have been able to without it. Like these cardboard bats which I made into batman streamers!
Here she is having a rest after a massive party workout over the last few weeks.
To make the bats I purchased the design for 99 cents from the Silhouette Online Store and then cut out as many as I could on a 12 x 12 inch piece of cardboard stock that I picked up at Officeworks. With the cutting blade on level 2 I managed to fit about 6 bats to a page and did quite a few pages so that I had enough to make a long bat garland / streamer with.
To join the bats I lined each one up on my sewing machine one after the other and using a sharp needle, 100% polyester gutermann thread and a long stitch length I sewed them all together on my sewing machine. It was so fast that I actually made some more to make the batman streamers even longer so that they reached right around half of the room where I had the party dessert table.
They looked great and quite dramatic next to the white painted walls. Of course this would work with other shapes for other party themes like butterflies, hearts or anything really. You could use lots of different coloured card in your party colours or stick to one colour like I did. The bats would also make a great halloween streamer so I might just keep this in my bunting cupboard to use again. Next up I’ll share with you where ever party starts – the invitations!
