My daughter’s teacher left her class a bit earlier this year to rest before having a baby. She wasn’t finding out the sex of her baby so once she had her sweet little boy I set to work making a gift for him. You may remember the cute elephant lovey I made a while ago? Well this Teddy Bear Lovey Security Blanket pattern is also by One and Two Company.
The perfect thing about this teddy toy is that her baby is called Ted! Cute hey?
He has cute little straps over the tops of his shoulders so that it looks like he is wearing overalls. I usually hate sewing on faces of toys as I feel I never do it well however it is much safer. I think I did ok this time though and I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. The instructions are very clear and detailed with measurements as to how far apart you should sew the eyes and what rows to do it on etc.
I love the idea of it being part toy and part blankie, I only wish I’d found these patterns earlier when my children were babies as they would have loved them.
Having said that when I got my son to hold it for me to take a photo he said he wanted one too so all of them aren’t too big yet!
If you’re looking for other newborn baby gift ideas I’ve made a fair few over the years. On the blog you can find posts on the following gifts – a crochet edge baby blanket, teething dolly, a nappy cake or even a hooded baby towel.
