It seems to be birthday season lately and with another special friend having a birthday we wanted to add something special to her gift. Using a mirrored jewellery box I found at the shops I set about personalising it for my daughter’s best friend Josie.
We searched through some fonts until my daughter found one she wanted to use and then using my Silhouette Cameo we cut out her name in some vinyl. Then I weeded out the shapes that we wanted to be decorated and then put the vinyl on to the transfer paper so that we could stick it down flat to the top of the jewellery box. When it is smooth and centred peel the transfer paper off so the vinyl is stuck to the jewellery box. You can use glass paints to paint over the stencil or you can also use etching cream which was my original plan for this jewellery box.
After deciding on some pink rose glass paint by Pebeo to paint over the stencil which needs to dry for 12 hours. I carefully pulled off the vinyl stencil before the paint dried so that it wouldn’t peel off parts of the letters when I tried to remove it later.
You can add homemade jewellery inside or special gift to make the present even bigger.
A sweet, quick easy personalised jewellery box that I’m sure will be treasured and keep treasures in for years to come.
Are you very organised when it comes to gifts for kids parties? I know a friend who keeps a cupboard with gifts at the ready to save on the last minute dash to the shops. Of course I prefer to personalise something or make a special gift especially when the little friend is such a sweetheart like Josie is. xo
