Unwind Craft Cafe Melbourne

Unwind Craft Cafe

I love a trip to Melbourne especially when there is shopping involved however this trip I chose to spend more time at the cute retro inspirited vintage style cafe called Unwind Craft Cafe in Keilor East and spend more time soaking up some crafty goodness.

Unwind Craft Cafe

You’ll find the cafe at 48 Wingara Avenue Keilor East in Victoria and it is a short 10 minute taxi ride from Tullamarine Airport. I did try to investigate public transport however found it easier to cab it there (which cost $30) and then at the end of the day I managed to find my way to the city via a bus (with big thanks to the Unwind Craft Cafe ladies!) which took me to a train station at Essendon which was pretty easy.

unwind craft cafe devonshire tea

After my flight from Sydney and getting up super early I was ready for a yummy afternoon devonshire tea. I love the vintage plates, homemade strawberry jam and lemon curd to go with my scones.

bendigo woollen mills yarn

They run lessons at the cafe and also sell the range of Bendigo Woollen Mills yarns, as well as some beautiful knitwear, handmade goodies, crafty books and fabric to name a few things.

worldwide knitting in public day

Knowing I probably wouldn’t have time to participate in Worldwide Knit in Public the next day I decided to make the most of it the day before at Unwind Craft Cafe Melbourne and the time without children was perfect for trying to finish the lace section on my new gradient cowl. It was so lovely to sit in the afternoon sun of the front window and knit away whilst sipping on my chai. Such a great way to pass some time before I met my brother after he finished work.

homemade lemon curd

Robyn and the ladies that I met at the cafe are always so friendly and accommodating. They gave me this lovely jar of homemade lemon curd to take home with me and I didn’t even buy any wool! That was only because I haven’t used the wool I got from there last time yet. Haha, I had to be very restrained. I just wish I lived closer! Sydney definitely needs somewhere like this. If you can suggest anywhere with a similar vibe in NSW I’d love to know where you like to hang out for some crafty time as I’m on the hunt.

Have you done any classes at Unwind? Have you visited there yet? You should definitely make time for a visit when you visit Melbourne next.
