Homemade New Baby Gift Ideas

Homemade New Baby Gift Ideas

So a friend is having a baby and you want to make something special for the baby as it’s so much fun to make “little” things but you don’t know what to make. I have the perfect list for you whether you love to crochet, sew or even knit and you can find all the details in the links to the blog posts as these are some of the projects I’ve made for babies over the last 5 years.

First up we have crochet baby gifts which I’ll list from left to right –

handmade baby gift ideas - crochet

teddy bear lovey which is both a mini blankie and toy in one
bow tie baby bib perfect for a little boy
amineko crochet cat (this pattern comes in several sizes)
sweetest elephant lovey/blankie which is by the same designer as the teddy lovie

sewn baby gifts

Now a few of these projects were made before I started blogging so they have never featured here however I thought they may spark some creative ideas of your own. If you’d like more details on either the patchwork cushion, bunny lovey or change mat let me know and I will try to write a post with instructions for you.

Knitted Baby Gifts

handmade baby gift ideas - knitted

teething dolly which comes in 2 sizes
Debbie Bliss baby hat which is such a great simple but cute hat pattern
eyelet dress for teddy(this is on my daughter’s teddy which she’s had since birth)
Noro pram sized blanket a great easy but colourful knit
milo vest with different options for the single cable down the front
bunny from a square which is great for a baby as there are not buttons or plastic eyes
little cotton rabbit with dress or for a boy jumper and shorts

yellow nappy cake

I hope these collages have provided you with some inspiration for your next baby gift. My favourite from each category would have to be the elephant lovey because she’s just so pretty, muslin wraps as they were so handy for my summer babies in the nice wide size and the milo knitted vest which even comes in premie sizes.

You could even make a nappy cake and add some of these gifts to the sides and you can find instructions to make a nappy cake here.

Which is your favourite? Do you have a pattern you love to make for babies? I’d love you to comment and let me know as there always seems to be someone having a baby.
