With winter upon us it is now beanie weather and I really enjoyed knitting up this Fidra beanie by Gudrun Johnston.
The yummy chunky yarn was some Ewe Ewe Yarns Baa Baa Bulky in black gifted to me from Knitcrate. I knitted this beanie up straight after the Garter Ear Flap Hat as I really enjoyed knitting with this yarn and this pattern had been on my radar for a while. I love the detail on the sides and of course my favourite part is the big fat chunky pom pom on top.
Being chunky yarn and even with the pattern detail it was a quick knit and I managed to knit this hat up in two days. I did have to do it during the day as I can’t knit black at night as I find it’s too hard for me to see but I do love a black beanie. Goes with everything.
The beanie came in very handy for our wedding anniversary trip to the Blue Mountains where we had some fun photo shoots along on our travels there.
These pictures were taken around Lithgow I believe. We just pulled over in the car when we saw a great location and I put on something I’d knitted and been meaning to get photos of and we had a little photo shoot. Much easier to do when it’s just the two of us and no kids. We had a lovely time away which I really needed after a hectic few months. I do love the Blue Mountains and miss my parents living there and having a reason to visit!
We managed to photograph two more finished pieces of knitting which I’ll share in the next week or so. So many great backdrops for photos we were spoilt for choice and it was so lovely to visit places 13 years later that we used to go to when we first started dating. A weekend without interrupted conversations was pure bliss and I love spending time with my best friend we hadn’t had a weekend away together since our 10 year anniversary in Queenstown.
